Metal Replacement

Metal replacement is one of the fastest growing area for conductive plastics. Plastics with their lighter weight, good processability and optimal combination of mechanical properties have challenged metals in many applications.

Case: Schoeller Arca Systems

The ATEX and UN -approved containers for storing of inks and hazardous liquids have traditionally been metallic.

Schoeller Arca Systems, the world leading producer of plastic storing systems, deciced to turn the new page and be first to introduce a conductive plastic container to the industry.

With Premix’s help the idea of the conductive plastic container was materialized. Two new PE-HD based PRE-ELEC® compounds have passed the strictest test procedures and are ready to make history.

Case: Schurter

Swiss company Schurter is a producer of electronic components such as push-buttons, fuses, keypads and connectors.

Schurter was facing severe problems with a push button of the electrical switch. The margins had tightened due to heavy competition and the old metallic push button with labour-intensive construction was not profitable anymore.

Fortunately a Schurter designer came across with Premix’s highly conductive PRESEAL® elastomer. The construction of push button was re-designed and metallic insert was replaced with PRESEAL®.

Thanks to significant savings in production costs the competitiveness of electrical switch was regained.
