ATEX
Conductive Concentrates
Metal Replacement

According to ATEX regulations materials used in ATEX applications must not accumulate electrical charges. This limits the use of plastic materials because they are insulating in their nature. The easiest way to overcome the problem is to use conductive plastics.

Case: Nederman

Swedish company Nederman is a pioneer and leading supplier of products and systems for extraction of smoke, dust and exhaust fumes. Nederman has a wide ATEX approved product range covering extraction arms, fans, filters and hose reels.

The Nederman conductive FX Extraction Arms are specially designed for use in explosive dust and gas environments and in electronics production, where ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection is a demand.

Nederman counted on Premix’s expertise and wide PRE-ELEC® sortiment when choosing the right plastic material solutions for the
FX Extraction Arms.

Case: KWH Pipe

Conductive piping systems is a latest market entry of Finnish pipe producer KWH Pipe. WehoAntistatic pipes have conductive inner and outer surfaces and they fulfill PE100 qualifications for pressure pipe systems.

The first project was carried out in Ämmässuo landfill in Espoo Finland. WehoAntistatic pipe system was installed for transportation of landfill gas.

WehoAntistatic could also be used in other applications such as transportation of combustible powders, grains or pellets, central vacuum systems and ventilation pipes.

KWH Pipe chose Premix’s conductive PRE-ELEC® compound because of it’s excellent processability in co-extrusion applications. That enabled optimized layer thicknesses and cost-effective material structure.
